WHY WE GIVE
Tithing
Tithing is a biblical concept; it is a translation from its Hebrew and Greek origins that means a tenth part. Tithers are committed to practicing the spiritual discipline of giving ten percent of their income to the Church. When you tithe, you are demonstrating your trust in God in your finances. In Malachi 3:10, God says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this."
Offerings
When Christians choose to give over and above the tithe, it is considered an offering. Scripture tells us, "whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
